Elyria Municipal Court Marriage Records
When two people get married, they must follow specific legal procedures governed by Ohio Rev. Code § 3101.01. The applicants must appear together by appointment at the Lorain County Probate Court to submit their formal application and valid identification, or comparable proof of identity where applicable. People who were previously married must disclose their divorce information, including case numbers and final decree dates.
All completed forms, which are deposited directly with the court, become the permanent marriage record for the jurisdiction.
Of all the documents generated during this procedure, individuals generally rely on the certified copy of the marriage license as definitive legal proof of a union. To obtain this document, requesters can submit a form directly to the probate court. Certified copies are available for a nominal fee of $1 per copy when requested by mail or at the courthouse. The marriage license is also viewable online through the court's Search Records database.
